Current Projects
With a substantial number of projects already completed (see Completed Projects for details) we have listed those currently in progress separately. These can be viewed via the menu on the left-hand side or by clicking on the logos on the right.
These projects are the means by which the Wye & Usk Foundation delivers its objectives. The overriding aim is to restore or improve the ecology of the two rivers and their fisheries in a way that also provides maximum biodiversity gains and benefits for the rural economy as well as educate in the management and importance of these ecosystems. The format is typically a partnership of organisations concerned with the particular activity in which each project is actively engaging. In some cases WUF is the lead, in others we have been invited to join projects sponsored by another organisation. This enables financial resources and skills to be brought together, to both increase spending power and to extend the range of activities undertaken.
Projects include these actions:
- Barrier removal and fish pass construction
- River habitat improvement and restoration
- Improvements to water quality & quantity
- Fishery infrastructure and marketing
- Management of invasive species
Partners and funders are listed in each set of project details.
